"What I love the most about Ms. Tee and Heartbeat is that she is very focused on their education and their grades. Your talent is important, but the grades come first."

~ Pamela J.

“Thank you Ms. Tee for not only creating a program for my daughter to start her educational journey but also a place where she can see children who look like her excel in the arts. I'm forever thankful for finding Heartbeat and becoming apart of this family, it is truly an honor! “

From the Students

“Within just 10 months, [Ms. Tee] exposed me to opportunities I didn't even know I could have access to. She helped me nurture the talents that society made me feel like I had to suppress, and she made me feel comfortable with being the true me. Since I've met Ms. Tee and joined Heartbeat, I've evolved completely. I've been put on a path where I can reach my fullest potential and I've never felt more empowered as well as supported. I want to thank Ms. Tee... You've taught me so much and I hope I continue to learn from you."

"[Ms. Tee] cares about us so much that she refused to let any of us fall behind. We all have our parents, but she could definitely be called a second mom to us all. Ms. Tee truly cares and has made a great commitment and investment in this community and in our lives. As section leader, I stand here and would like to say, Ms. Tee, we all love you and please keep on believing in us and continue doing what you love doing."

~ Kenneth H, 14, Drumline Section Leader

"Here at Heartbeat, for me, it is more than just a space to dance. Here I have created bonds with those I start to call my sisters and brothers. I have grown a deeper love for the art that I have decided to pursue. ...I started coming here in the 7th grade, and I am now a 10th grader. Over the years it has shown me how to push myself and others, how present myself, and how to continue to grow as not only a dancer but a person. ...Ms Tee has taught me how to stay strong in difficult situations, how to handle emotions, how to lead and how to follow.

~ Caiyel T, 15, Dance Captain
